Monroe is the largest community between Everett on Puget Sound and Wenatchee in Eastern Washington. Monroe finds itself located 35 miles from Seattle and 17 miles from Everett or the Greater Eastside—on high tech corridors. It is the energetic hub of three major highways: State Hwy
2; Hwy 522 from the Eastside communities of Bellevue, Redmond and Woodinville; and Hwy 203 from Duvall and Snoqualmie Valley.
Monroe is relatively flat, with hills to the north and east, and the
Cascade Mountains rising 20 miles further east. Horse and dairy farms abound. Monroe is the portal to the Skykomish Valley. Monroe is rich in outdoor recreation such as golf, fishing, hiking, biking, etc.
Annually, Monroe hosts the Evergreen County Fair, one of Washington State’s largest fairs. It also serves as home to the
Equestrian Park and Stock Car Speedway—both nationally recognized. The city of Monroe is well developed with retail stores, consumer services, and medical facilities including a hospital and businesses
including several light industrial companies.
As new residents are attracted to Monroe, it will in some measure be due to thoughtful planning carried out by those already here enjoying the relaxed,
small-town lifestyle. Monroe is a town with a proud history and a promising future!
